Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran has participated in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied sometimes on free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk occasionally and was rude to her mother. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was a D student.C
